Career
I’m David Sánchez, a musician, audio engineer, videograher and educator originally from Colombia. I moved to Cologne, Germany, after completing my bachelor’s degree in music to study a master’s in classical guitar at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. During my master’s project I recorded a CD, and that process reignited a long‑forgotten curiosity: my fascination with machines and technology. After years of focusing almost entirely on pure guitar practice, I suddenly found myself recording, editing, and thinking about how sound is created and shaped, not just played.
That spark led me to buy my first audio tools and start learning intensively—through online courses, tutorials, and self‑directed study. I also enrolled during one year at the Institut für Musik und Medien (IMM) in Düsseldorf. Those months gave me a solid theoretical foundation in audio that informed about the tools to learn that shaped the way I work today.
I began small, helping friends with basic recordings and rough edits, and those first projects slowly grew into more serious collaborations. Word spread, and I started working with larger ensembles, orchestras, and institutions. Over time, my editing work expanded beyond music into film and video, and today I regularly create and edit visual content for cultural institutions as well as projects in the medical and educational sectors.
At the same time, my own musical life continued evolving outside the classical world. Alongside my work as a classical guitarist, I began exploring pop music, my own guitar compositions, and electronic music. These became new branches of my creative identity—parallel, sometimes overlapping worlds where I could experiment with sound, structure, and technology in a more personal way.
Curiosity is the fuel that keeps my life interesting. I’m always looking for new branches to explore: new tools, new workflows, new collaborations, and new ways of teaching. With 4Augenblicke, I bring all of this together—the studio, the camera, the classroom—into one creative space where I record, mix, produce, film musicians, and teach music the way I always wished I had been taught: practical, honest, and rooted in real projects.
MUSIC.
